This exorcism was originated from Hohoe-ri, Pungcheon-myeon, Anfongkun, Kyeong-buk, Korea.

The legend:

the Hahoe mask was made by a boy named Heo by the revelation of god at the middle age of Koryo Dynasty. However, it is believed that the boy died by the anger of god at the moment when a girl who has been in a one sided love made a hole in the door of work and looked at him working on the mask.
