Journey to the Center of the Earth – by Jules Verne - 1969
First published in the "Bankcroft Classics" 1969
Journey to the Center of the Earth is an inexcusably forgotten novel by a great French fantasy writer Jules Verne. A famous scientist Otto Lidenbrock finds the written in code manuscript in an accidentally gained by him manuscript of an Icelandic saga of XIII century by Snorri Sturluson, “Heimskringla”. His nephew and assistant, Axel helps read the decoded message from the past, the author of which was a famous Icelandic alchemist of XVI century, Arne Saknussemm. Is it possible that under the earth’s crust the prehistoric world of giant dinosaurs, mammoths, saber-toothed tigers, and monsters, that was considered long dead by the official science, has been hiding from people for all these numerous centuries. According to the manuscript it is true. The expedition to the center of the Earth begins. And even the bravest participants have no idea how many fascinating and dangerous adventures they are going to have.
